John and I went to the beach and saw a life guard having some 'Time out' on his jet ski, pretty impressive he was too, he never caught up with his fellow jet skier but did manage to get in some pretty nifty moves out there.
On a nearly cloudless day this is near Newcastle NSW, a great place to be if you like para gliding or the simple things in life, like kite flying. It is very windy down there so that may explain the lack of people on the beach.
Being a complete wimp the thought of swimming in a shark invested sea fills me with horror, it is what nightmares are made of, so all you fellow wimps out there could join me and countless others in one of the many pools on the beach. Shark proof concrete pools with only the splash of swimmers quicker than you doing laps, no looking over your shoulder or hoping that sharks are having a day off.
Okay so I know that this picture could be of anything, but if you look very closely you can just see the splash of ..........WHALES, We had gone to a National Park and just wandering about and saw some people up on the cliff staring out to sea, being nosy we went up to see what was out there, and low and behold we saw them, just a little too far out for a good shot but as it was my first sighting I was very excited.
Still there, a Mum and her young. There were approx 20 whales swimming by on their migratory path, it seems that every year they give a show, once they have passed Sydney they get to the National Park a day later. Maybe next year I will get better pictures.
The same park with a beautiful beach and very few of the waves that knock you off your feet if you get too close, you need to be made of sturdy stock to stand upright when the waves come crashing to shore.
Even the birds like to loll around now and again, I guess they do not read, it does say Private after all.
Of course it is not all good in the water and we got to see a few jelly fish going past. Not our favourite things, and not that easy to see if you are swimming.
So what to do when you are hot and dusty? Splash around in a puddle, do a bit of preening, make sure you do behind your ears and then you are all smart again for the rest of the day.
A mass take off across the water near Swansea Heads.
This was taken at Woy Woy, we were sat watching the world go by when this chap ran passed us taking off his shirt and then leaping in the water trying to catch this bird. He was fishing up stream and as he was casting off the bird flew past and got caught in his line, the chap spent a long time trying to untangle the bird and eventually, after a lot of chasing, managed to free the bird. We were impressed that he took the time to save the bird, even though he got soaked and lost his line.

Even birds like to fish from boats it seems, no point in getting wet when you can fish from the side......think he forgot his rod!
