Not so hot today

It has been very hot here, no rain unlike Queensland, no Cyclone unlike Queensland, just hot hot and hotter, so when we went past the temperature sign yesterday on the way to Polkobin in Hunter Valley wine country we were amazed at the 36c because it sure did not feel that low. Of course it was early so we knew we were in for a slight increase before the day was through.

We were not wrong, on the way home late afternoon this was the temperature, during the day we baked as we have done for the past week. John and I are not Shopping Mall people but hey you go where there is Air Con, and as our house has none we go to Malls, along it seems with a heck of a lot of others. But not yesterday, we wanted a change so off we went to Wine Country.

It took me four attempts to find where we were looking for and for some reason John seems to think my navigation skills are rather pathetic, I on the other hand see absolutely nothing wrong with exploring, we got there so that is what matters.....surely. Not sure if it is left

or right.....(do you think anyone would miss a barrel if I kind of roll one to the car and take it home for flowers, I have always wanted a barrel in my garden, and they do not look as if they need all of these, I could move them all a little over and not a problem)
anyway we just go where we think the smell of food is coming from as we are hungry and thirsty. We found where we were looking for, first attempt I might add, Harrigans Irish Pub. Australia does not seem to accommodate vegetarians so I had spent ages checking out different restaurants finding somewhere that would let John and I eat out without me just having chips, I ask you, I could go to a greasy Joe's for that, occasionally it would be nice to find somewhere that does a couple of things on the menu, here it does so that is where we ended up.

Feeling better for our drink and meal we wandered around for a while, very pleasant as it was quite quiet, holiday makers nearly all gone and children back at school from their Summer Holidays

Not sure why John is in such a hurry

Unless it is to see the British Lolly Shop. It was like stepping back in time with all the old fashioned jars lined up with good old favourites, Gob Stoppers, Black Jacks, Sherbet Lollies, Flying Saucers and no, it can't be , oh yes it is......a box of After Eights, one of my all time favourites, but at $17 A BOX THEY CAN STAY ON THE SHELVES. Do you know that is about £10.60, I WOULD NEED A MORTGAGE TO BUY THOSE, oh well I saw them so that was enough, a girl can dream, sniff, sniff.

Now I know why John put on a spurt, ice cream, one of his favourites, I do not eat much ice cream, a very rare sight indeed, but I did succumb on this occasion, Strawberry for the second scoop and for the first scoop it was Vanilla with chocolate strands running through it, I could not finish mine but I have someone to finish mine off for me, I eat Johns vegetables and in return he eats my ice cream, it works out well for us both.

Whilst eating our ice cream we watched as the roof started to go onto the stage for a show later this month, anyone who likes Joe Cocker is in for a treat as he is the leading act, then I think it is Bryan Ferry, I like both........

I think this is the biggest bottle I have seen, show me the winery.....

Please, what the heck is that supposed to be, looks as if it is a giant satellite dish not a winery.

At the end of all this feasting and shopping there is a pretty little church where you can go into and sit and contemplate your day

Unless you want to play Aqua golf, we on the other hand just sit and admire the wonderful view.
