The Ball

RETIREMENT: So there you are, finished work and wondering how to spend your days!!!!!!!!

You could take up the genteel game of bowls.............or fishing, sitting for hours come rain or shine in the fresh air with your flask of tea and a large brolly in case of rain. Maybe not. Better idea, how about painting. Nothing too adventurous to start with, a nice vase with flowers or a bowl of fruit and later on maybe a scenic painting with a couple of trees. Something more exciting then............. BINGO NOW WHAT COULD BE MORE EXCITING THAN THAT..The thrill of sitting with a book of numbers whilst someone shouts Clickety Click or Two Fat Ladies, now that must be a sight to see. Okay I can see you are not very taken with that idea, so what do people do when they retire????????? Well my Mum and Dad hit the shops and get themselves all done up to go to a ball

So off they go to the ball and have a whale of a time, but you know how it is, you have a sherry or five, act cool and laugh loudly, tell a little joke, become the life and sole of the party, have a port or two (how many times do I have to say DO NOT MIX YOUR DRINKS) and you then start to see thing at a different angle to the rest. The room sways a bit and those darn candles keep flickering this way and that.......................................
