PAARL

John and I decided to travel further afield and we arrived at Paarl situated in the Berg River Valley, Paarl got its name from the Dutch peerbergh meaning Pearl Mountain, as it glistens in the sun.

One of the very pretty churches.
Paarl has lots of pretty parks, this one was outside the court.
A Cape Dutch house with Paarl mountain in the background.
Up the mountain, our hire car did us proud getting up the unmade road.
This is the Language Monument constructed in 1975 as a tribute to the official recognition of the Afrikaans language 100 years earlier.
Exploring is hard work so we stopped for an ice cream, a great view whilst eating a Magnum.
On the way back to the hotel we had to pass the local farm, not your usual view of cows!!!!!!!
or chickens!!!!!!!!!!
or even horses!!!!!!!!
