A Year in Oz

It is official.....John and I have been in Australia a whole year. Where did the time go? it has flown by and it seems only a few weeks ago that we set off, via South Africa, to start a new adventure here `Down Under`

We have missed a few things, family and friends, 96 Sig Sqn with all its wonderful quirkiness, work mates, a good chinwag with fellow Admin girls, Vegi food for me, Guernsey milk and chocolate for John, but we cope.

So one of the first things we did on arrival as new immigrants was to introduce ourselves to the newest member of the Smith Family Oz.
`Hello Joseph` we are your Nanna and Gramps........we made a good impression obviously.

`Its true, honest I am your Nanna`
So we managed to chill out after being in Sydney after a week or two.
And saw all the sights.

We also discovered weird and wonderful natives

And of course all Kookaburras are called Katie.

We found Blue skies and blue seas. Golden coloured sand and usually warm water.
We spent a weekend in a cabin at Butterwick.

The colours of the leaves as they change in Autumn.

Beautiful purple on the trees at Manely.
Citrus trees still hold a fascination for me, and this Kumquat tree in a friends garden was full of fruit.

So a year on ,we have seen different things here in Oz and discovering new places all the time, our thoughts are often on the UK, our family and friends, but hopefully through this Blog they can see how we are and how our new life is shaping up in Oz.
