A day at the beach

It may have been cold but we really needed to get out and blow away the cobwebs, so we decided to go to a National Park one bright and breezy morning. Food packed, windcheaters in the car and best foot forward we arrived to a sparkling sea and beautiful beach, hardly a soul to be seen anywhere we went for a walk to build up an appetite for our lunch. What a lovely sky, and not one cloud.

Okay, so now I see a cloud or two, but nothing to worry about, the sea was crashing against the shoreline and the odd seaweed or two lay on the beach, not a day for swimming as the water was bitterly cold.
We were heading for the rocks so we could climb up and see if the whales were about, now is a good time to come and look for them as they are on their migration swim, past Sydney and us and then further North.
I saw this and decided to pretty it up a little, still a big piece of cuttlefish bone, the only ones I have been used to seeing fit inside a budgerigar cage and were never this big. Must have big birds here........

Okay, now I am getting worried as this one was a heck of a lot bigger than my foot and that is with my trainer on.

At last we made it to the rocks, one thing we did not do was check the tide table......and yes we did tell ourselves off, so we will have to be pretty quick to make sure we are not caught on the rocks, a swim was certainly not on my timetable.

Guess this fisherman was not going to be caught out either, that water does look pretty close and I see no rod. A hasty retreat.....

Yep, that water does look as if it is coming in, RUN FOR IT.

Just a quick picture of a rock pool, nothing lurking about, I did try the water and nearly froze my fingers off.

Now we were not expecting this at all, a small inlet on the beach, nor the chap walking along the side in Bl**dy shorts. Sure make them tough in these parts.

We went for our Barbie, no surprise there then, at an inland area away from the wind and there is a very pretty walk you can go on afterwards to walk off all your goodies.

We also found this area which I imagine would be great when it is boiling as you get a good sea breeze, not so good on a cold day though. The view was different.......

If you use your imagination and look beyond the rock you can see a whale spout, okay so you may have to use a magnifiying glass but trust me it is there alright, I should know as I jumped up and down with glee when I saw it.

We really do need to go on a whale sighting boat so I can see them up close, take pictures and put them on a Blog just to prove they are really out there, which I can proudly say is where John thinks I AM, most of the time .
