Hermanus
One of our day trips out was to Hermanus where the Whales go to give birth. The trip there took in some beautiful scenery of mountains and bays, one of which is shown here, just don`t ask which!
This one we do know........it is Hermanus Bay, a wide and windswept resort. No matter how hard we looked, or in which direction there were no whales to be seen. Even the `Whale Crier` who patrols the streets to announce the arrival of the Whales on his kelp horn was silent. Therefore no whales were born that day?????????
We did eat lunch at one of the many restaurants along the water and one chap had a whinge that having come all the way to see Whales and hadn`t, he felt well and truly cheated.
Being a fully fledged cabbage (military watcher) Lin always stops to look at anything military, here is a plaque to the men and women who died in the wars. They also had a plaque commemerating a Squadron Leader who took part in one of the great escapes of the war.
Waiting to go fishing.
The more hardy of the holiday makers decided that a swim was in order.........fools, at least in the canoes you were drier.
Not sure at first what we had seen, someone told us it was a South African rabbit, known as a 'Dassie', nothing like the ones in the UK and we were told they bite.
