On the 10 September we left Cape Town for Johannesburg and our flight to Australia via the cattle class of Qantas. After a flight of some 12 hours that felt more like 2 days we arrived at Sydney. The beginning of a new era.
Going through customs we were asked the reason for our visit, we replied, almost chirpily, " immigration", to which came back "Well hello mate" We didn't expect a tick- a -tape parade or anything but it seemed a bit of a come down.
Anyway here are a few views of Sydney:
Bet you don't know where this is:

Or this

This one might be a bit harder

But this one you will be able to work out:

And this is of the more money than sense people, who chose to pay to go over the top of the bridge when you can walk over the level bit for free.

Any way the first few weeks were taken up with becoming Australian, registering for Medicare, opening bank accounts, getting driving licences and of course getting a Tax File Number just in case we get any money, donations will be gratefully received. So with that done we searched for a car, not knowing where we would end up we thought it wise to buy something that could go off road, but wasn't a tank or a full on Land Rover. So we settled for a Nissan X Trail, here Lin is posing with the said vehicle not quite motor show pose (which may be a relief to most of you).

And so the adventure begins.................................
