Almost Outback

Lin had looked on the map for somewhere new to explore and see if it would be our bit of paradise, and so she hit on Gloucester. But of course where there is Gloucester there has to be Stroud, so off we went. Having had a day trip out to both places we decided to try out Stroud for a week. So here are some of the local attractions:

For those that can't read the signs, above is Stroud house which was the home of the Australian Agricultural Company Commissioner, buit in 1832 as was most of Stroud:

Silo Hill......don't ask you'll only be dissapointed

But for those that can't resist, some one decided that the grain would store in better condition if they got the convicts to dig out 8 silos in a hill, brick line them and store the grain...it worked no more weevils. The cannons are from England via Sydney and originate 1855/6.

This is Orchard Cottage, where we are staying, believe me it is different.......very different.

Well we did have to have a look at Gloucester, but no docks, just a great big country park and the gateway to Barrington Tops (an even bigger National Park).

And finally the bit of land at Stroud that we are considering as our home............we have to buy our own shed.
