Newcastle-Stockton

As John and I have lived near Newcastle (Australia`s second oldest city)for the last 10 months we decided a visit was in order, so packing a picnic lunch, camera and plenty of enthusiasm we set off one very warm December day. This is Newcastle taken from Stockton, with Christ Church Cathedral standing high on the hill.

One of the first places we went to was the Shipwreck Walk, a memorial to the courage and determination of Australia's seafaring forebears who established the commerce of Newcastle. This is one of the wrecks of an iron ship incorporated into the breakwater.

John keeping guard and a schoolboy deciding it was time to leave.

Guess it is two wrecks together.

One of the many 300m bulk carriers navigating the harbour .
Hard at work.
The tugs racing back ready to bring in another when the time comes.

This wonderful building is a Locomotive Workshop from 1887.

King Edward Park, I would quite like this in my back garden.......should we get one.

Maybe even a plant or two.

Waiting for the ferry to take us over to Stockton.

Okay, so you forget to load a parcel or two, so what do you do.....well call a helicopter of course.

Okay, can we please leave now!!!!. Safe trip.

We had a great day and would go back to see all the other great things here. The Heritage Walk will take us to Nobbys Beach, Fort Scratchley and the Convict Lumberyard, plenty to see and do.

"Two wrecks together"?
I would say more like two beautiful vintage ladies.
